Immigration Medicals

What You Need To Know

The onus is on you, the applicant to know what is required. If you are unsure phone the immigration department 0508 558 855 and confirm if you need a full medical, with/without a chest xray, partial medical or X-Ray only. We will also need to know what visa you are applying for. We are unable to do the medical on the day you come for the booking.

Step 1

To book an appointment with us for an immigration medical you will need to come into Vivian Medical Centre. We don’t take bookings over the phone, but are available to do bookings in person between 9.00am – 3.30pm weekdays.

We hold immigration clinics in the evening twice a month, however at times there can be high demand. We encourage you to book yourself in early.

At the same time you book this appointment you will need to:

  1. Present your current passport (photocopy’s will not be accepted).
  2. Complete some forms, which we will give you.
  3. Pay for the medical.

YOU WILL NOT BE REFUNDED IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT

Step 2

Your appointment and test results:

  • Do not be late for your appointment please. Consider possible traffic delays etc.
  • You must bring your passport with you to all appointments. Bring any relevant documents.
  • We are unable to provide a chaperone for your appointment. If you think you require a chaperone, please bring a friend or relative with you.
  • You are required to provide a URINE SAMPLE at the surgery on arrival, so please make sure you have plenty to drink first. Eat normally before your appointment.  You do NOT need to fast.
  • If you require a chest x-ray, a form will be given to you by the doctor. You will need to pay for this service and will be charged by Taranaki Radiology (Ph. 7594317 for prices). Take your passport with you.

If you require blood tests, a form will be given to you by the doctor.  You will need to pay for this service and will be charged by them directly.  Call Awanui Lab on 7587450 for prices.  Take your passport for the blood tests.  Once the lab has signed your form, please return it to Vivian Medical Centre

PLEASE NOTE:

  • If your test results require further attention and you need to come back to see the doctor, there will be additional charges for this which will be payable at the time of consultation.
  • You should receive notification from Immigration within 7 working days to advise that the medical has been submitted.
